XC40 Initial Niggles

I have just acquired a T3 Inspiration and am still familiarising myself with the car. There are a couple of niggles so far:

- It is difficult to close the bonnet properly as the driver-side lock is reluctant to function. I expect that this something that can be adjusted by the dealer.

- The tyres fited are Michelin Primacy 4 which seem to be decent tyres. However, and it is potentially a big however, these do not seem to be available to the public in the appropriate size. How come that Volvo would fit a type of tyre for which replacements are not available? The implication for the customer is that on having to replace one tyre through puncture damage, at the very least two new tyres of a different sort would be required so that like tyres would be on the same axle. This requires further investigation.

In other respects, the upholstery seems a bit cheap in places, but I do not hold that against it.

I can take this tyre business a little further. Michelin insist that the tyre is available in the required size. The Volvo dealers say that they can supply the tyre in sets of 4, but not individually. Most tyre outlets do not stock the tyre. One dealer that I have found does list it, and specifically mentions it is intended for Volvo (i.e. it is homologated). So it seems to be a case of potentially difficult to obtain rather than not available. That was a couple of hours investigation that should not have been necessary.

Have you checked the online tyre suppliers - Blackcircles; MyTyres etc to see what their Michelin stocks are like?
