Haynes Manual

The new Haynes Manual for the XC60 & XC90 has just been released for all budding DIY enthusiasts.
It covers models from 2003 - 2013, diesel only.

Just wondering how one manual can cover two fundamentally different vehicles? Yes they are both made by Volvo and they both have XC in their name but I think that is probably about all they share :(

That would suggest to me that neither car is covered in the depth or quality that Haynes was famous for in the past and which aligns with the experience I had afte purchasing one for my daughters Renault.

Hopefully there's some useful info in it but I agree, Haynes manuals are it what they used to be, perhaps a reflection of how complex cars are now compared to when I bought my first Haynes manual for my 1959 Moggie Minor!!

I rebuilt my Mini Cooper S in 1974 with a mate and a Haynes Manual. Only car I truly regretted selling.

Goo start

The engine and transmission are basically the same which is a good start

apart from the Haldex being gen2/3 in XC90 and Gen4 in XC60, and then there is 5 speed versus 6 speed gearbox and an engines that have different power outputs I guess they are the same ;)

Minor technical details to a good DIY man wanting to pull his auto gearbox out on a Saturday afternoon!

Reminds me of my rebuild way back in my youth.....got the engine back in but wouldn't start. Tried for days and days and thought I had fudged it all up. Was in a pub drowning my sorrows when someone said - I be you put the distributor arm in 180 degrees out. Laughed at his but when I got home took it out a turned it around....started first go....

Have any of you guys purchased a manual?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151243726513 - £17 including delivery

A few of us XC90 owners have, definitely worth having but we feel its more XC60 related than XC90. What do you guys think ?

Mine was behind the front door when I got back from a week away with the caravan.

It's a bit light-weight and I mean this in the physical sense at 698g. My 240 Haynes is 1030g and my 740/760 Haynes is 1086g!!

No idea if it will ever be of any use but it's there.
