How complicated are C70 electric seats?
Hi all,
I am looking for very comfortable seats to install in a project. They need to be folding. Volvo and Saab seats have been recommended. Any idea how complicated C70 seats are to graft into a car with minimal electronics? Are there any control modules set outside the seat body itself, like in some Mercedes seats? Any info appreciated. TIA |
All Mk1 C70 seats are folding, most being manual operation by a side lever and a pull strap for rear passengers to use. A bit of fabrication for the runners to fit the project car and all should be good. The only point to consider is the operation of the airbags which are electronically triggered. Presumably the airbags would be non-operational without the electronic activation, but not sure if they would be prone to 'accidental' - excuse the pun - triggering without being connected electronically.
They are exceptionally comfortable btw. |
I have looked at a few seats. Most have an airbag function. My plan is to remove it and replace the space with some upholstery foam.
Thank You, I will have a look at mk1s. |

Sounds like a plan.
For reference, the attachments show my drivers seat stripped and also complete. The orange label is the airbag, so I would think it will be quite easy to remove and stuff the cavity with some foam. Apologies for the sideways photos - they are too tall for the forum and a bit of a long winded job to resize. Hope this helps. |
Hi
Drivers-side seats are prone to wear, so it might be difficult to find some good ones. V70 seats can be manually operated or electric. Presume you would want manual. But they don't fold. C70 seats come in manual, but not sure if in electric. C70 seats have an internal cable which allows the back to fold forward. That is prone to snap, is not expensive but can be a fiddle to replace.
