Volvo V70 Bi-fuel CNG help
I have a V70 2006 Bi-fuel CNG . The car used to run 70% of the time on CNG but would typically switching to petrol just before the engine reached normal operating temperature. I have read numerous bloggs and post but found nothing that relates directly to CNG engines.
As I have now discovered, the Necam Voltec CNG system is very similar to the LPG system with a gas regulator rather than a vaporizer. The CNG has one advantage that it doesn't suffer from the same dirt and oil contamination most LPG users report since CNG is totally clean. I eventually replaced the stepper motor and distributor but found the car would start up, switch to gas and then struggle to idle before dieing. Any ideas most welcome! Charlie |
You might find that the replacement distributor is the wrong one. There are a few versions of the Necam distributor.
The CNG ones still need cleaning. We have a forum member on here called CNGbifuel on here with a CNG V70 |
CNGbifuel
Thanks for your reply,
I checked the old and new distributor and they both have the same serial number prefix and are also visually identical. Will check out CNGbifuel though. Charlie |
'tis I. I've a pile of bits that I've been collecting. I replied to your other post. I will admit here, I'm mystified. Nine times out of ten it'll be dirt in the dist and if you've let it go too far a new stepper.
I'm puzzled. PM me. And psot what it was if you sorted it. I had issues with the Lambda which gave similar issues. Ouch! You've already spent real dough... Edit: Didn't see you location at first, just looked up Dals Rostock - I had you as a Brit! |
Isn't CNG a bit hard to obtain in this country compared to easily obtainable LPG?
Unless you have your own CNG compressor and maybe a spinnable gas meter lol.. Simon www.Lpgc.co.uk |
