car detail

hi, has any car cleaning enthusiasts out there used a clay mitt on their vehicle as opposed to a clay bar?

Hi

Yes i have got the g3 mitt and use BH clay.

The BH clay is great for the first hit, and then the g3 mitt is good for maintenance. Either way your car will need a polish after as it will be marred in places.

I would recomend you join the facebook group 'detailing central' and 'detailing addicts'.

Yep, pretty much as above.

I've got a farcela claymit - shouldn't be used at every wash as you will strip off any wax/sealants applied and it can cause marring. It is certainly a quick and easy way to achieve some of the benefits of claying.

Maybe once a year: Decent decontamination - compound - polish - sealant - wax

Then your maintenance Washes can be topped up with just a spray wax/QD for ease.

I have read that people use this on their windscreen, is this safe

Yes it's safe, clay is quite useful in deep cleaning a windscreen.Barkeepers friend (powdered version) is by far the best on contaminated windscreens in my experience.

Start by using any of these cloths mitts that are for claying on glass first. They are more aggressive in nature than many of the finest clay.

In my experience the time saved v clay is lost in more time polishing the defects introduced.
