Is it that you want to keep it original and put non rusty ones on? The reason I ask is that there is no problem in just cutting them off. I have done this on every car I've owned.

Hi yes thanks I know it'll work fine without but I'm doing new disks, pads and brake lines on my new (old) 240 GLT - so I thought I would ask around. I'm too tight to pay brand new retail at £25 a corner - and you never know......they look so shiney!

I think youll find that is an MOT fail.....

Steve and his 244 May 16th, 2013 12:08

3 different cars, 3 separate MOTs at 3 separate test centres and no fails yet and at least 2 friend's have done the same and still no MOT fails...

It is not an MOT fail but they are there to protect the disk and caliper from much and to aid cooling.

I've just had an advisory for " 003 Both front brake back plates slightly corroded" so guess when "slightly" changes to "excessively" it will be a fail.

Will check on this next time I'm at work, and report back.
James.
