Alternative to Denso alternator ?
As title. Don't really want a Denso given their poor quality, so is there a better alternative ?
|
Denso make some alright stuff for Jap vehicles to be fair.
But for these cars, Bosch is the one brand I'd trust for electrical components. |
many thanks.
Are you saying there is a Bosch alternator for these ? |
Google could have answered faster than it took to post that.
There is a Bosch one for my car, S40 T5, on eurocar parts for £424, not sure if it's the same unit throughout all the engines though. Could probably get a gen Volvo one for less than that price. EDIT: With MIDMONTH code it drops to £340. |
I have been Googling a plenty and it just comes up with Denso or similar basement bargain ones.
It appears Volvo don't do there own as this is the PSA engine. The only Bosch I could find was a reconditioned one and I know it's crucial to get the right amps on these. Thanks |

Though you may be right in the Denso being the only offering... To be honest I think many view the alternator as a service item on those engines! My previous 2.0d's popped at around 11 years old! |
These alternators seem to have a life of 1K.
I guess if I get 1k from the replacement I'll be driving a dinosaur car :-) Thanks for the reply |
Seems like this one from BOSCH is for 2.0d- BOSCH 0 986 049 071

Worth noting that alternator specs differ also depending on whether you have heated seats etc..
|
My word, that's very interesting .
buycarparts site had several options and Bosch not badly priced. Many thanks for that |
