XC40 Wheels

Hi all. I am soon to return to the fold, having had a couple of years with a BMW. I will be picking up a new XC40 in June (hopefully).
I have a set of 18" Pan alloys from my XC70, and wonder if they would fit the XC40 (to allow me to use winter tyres). They have an offset of 55mm, whereas all the XC40 alloys have an offset of 50.5mm. They are the same depth (7.5).
Does anyone have any knowledge about these things?

Try inserting the details of the wheels here:

You'll also need to consider the PCD, bolt pattern and so on (see http://www.alloyguide.com/pcd.php).

I can't help if they will fit the XC40, but I assume the XC40 will have the same software requirement as the SPA Volvos - so your going to be asked to folk out £50 for the software update each time you swap the wheels - see this thread on the SPA section:

The warning is the same for the XC40. Does the car really care what size the wheels are? The main consensus on that thread is that the software update isn't necessary. Do you really want to traipse over to the dealer every six or so months?

The difference in circumference can be practically nothing. For example, if you go from the 20" R-Design tyres (245/45/ 20) to 18" of the same size that Volvo uses for their winter tyre/wheel packages (235/55 R18), the 18 inch tyres have a circumference that's 1.7% less than the larger tyres. If you plug these figures into a calculator like https://tiresize.com/comparison/ it says that this will make the speedo over-read by a whole one mile per hour when you're doing 60 (so you'll actually be doing 59 mph).

For such a difference, the software update isn't worth it.
