V40 CC T3 on the go black-out

Fifteen days ago my Volvo V40 CC T3 had suffered a total break down on the go, with no apparent reason, and I have been in danger of a severe car accident, to die or kill by driving a non-functional car.

In just a second, while I was driving at 50 km/hr, my V40 lost engine power. The steering wheel locked, the brakes were non-responsive, the lights went out, not even alarm lights worked, and the car was out of control. Thankfully, no other vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian was ahead of my V40 at that point, and by using the only functional part of my car, the mechanical hand break, I managed to reduce speed and stop after about 200 meters.

Please read the response from Volvo Cars. They wish me a "faultless driving experience", even if they "cannot confirm that the fault will not reoccur":

Dear Mr. Markidis,

Thank you for your response to my email.

Please accept my apologies for the delay in replying and thank you for your patience while I investigated your query.

I have read the translation of the letter you received from the dealer and understand that diagnosis of the failure was related to the battery low rated voltage. According to the letter that, after replacing the battery, no fault errors was found.

Please be informed that we are not technically trained and rely of the expertise of our technicians as all Volvo dealers are trained to Volvo's global standards and have access to technical support if needed. It is on this basis that we support the communication from the dealer.

Kindly note that, as much as we hope for a faultless driving experience, we wish to share that it is essential to note that all vehicles come with complex mechanical and technical components and failures can and do occur. We therefore cannot confirm that the fault will not reoccur, only that the replacement parts carry a 1 year warranty.

We hope that this brings clarity to the matter.

Kind Regards,
Samantha
