XC40 waiting times
 

Hello there,

Just checking how everybody else is getting on with their waiting times

I placed an order the last week of February for an R-Design Pro, and I was told I should expect it by the last week of May, no later than early June.

Had a call with the dealer last week to check on the car, and they told me the new expected delivery date is... 20-NOVEMBER!

Has anyone else had similar issues and delays?
3 months waiting (from March until June) seemed acceptable, 9 moths seems a bit too much...

Ordered R Design Pro 12/03/18 for a may delivery, finally got a build date 2nd Nov!

I’m undecided if I should cancel as a 8 month lead time is slightly unacceptable.

Plenty discussion about this on the XC40 Forum, including the posting of some Volvo UK documents to the dealers which appear to have escaped from captivity.

There is a huge demand for this car , volvo have twice as many orders as they anticipated … one of the drawbacks in having multiple car of the year awards I guess .Much the same happened in 2003 when the XC90 was launched .

Just looked at production statistics for May, now have 3 months of XC40 production data. Volvo are producing 5,000 units per month and the press release states that extra production will be available in 2019. With 80,000 orders already that means the XC40 is in seriously short supply!

Volvo got there estimates wrong for this vehicle!!

They cant get the estimates wrong , you have to come up with a realistic figure for setting up the assembly line , people needed , parts needed etc . They estimated correctly but can't anticipate the car winning 2 major awards as soon as it is launched , they have to adapt now as they go along ..

It's very disappointing as well that they don't prioritize depending on when the order was placed but on the model

Momentums and inscriptions ordered in May are being given delivery dates earlier than a Pro ordered in February... :confused_smile:

I read that the R Design is the main problem is that the case for the pro versions also?

I have on order a T5 Inscription pro. Initially scheduled for delivery in June/July. I have now been advised that it will be mid/late October!!

Just as well my very old XC60 is still going strong! I have downsized because of the increased size of the new XC60, which is now too big for my needs.

Just waiting and fingers crossed that it is not delayed again.

I ordered an R Design on 15th March and was originally told June/July. I now have a date of 23rd October.

My PCP deal has since run out on my old Volvo and I now have an interim V40 Cross Country to take me up to my new XC40. Don't have much hope though that I will actually get the car late October.

T4 petrol R-Design, for me.

At the moment, the delivery is scheduled for the second half of September.

Seems Volvo have found a way to increase XC40 production by 50% in July.

It's a car.........some people wait longer for a kidney transplant.....loads of choice out there...

For an XC40 Inscription with various packs I am being told order now for March, so 5-6 months. Apparently, heated windscreen has been a delay factor recently.

A few hundred views have been made of the above post. I am glad people are looking at it, but does anyone have anything to report themselves?

Looks like my total wait time it's going to be over 7 months (222 days)

Ordered match and due for delivery next week with collection following week due to dealer being on holiday

We ordered T3 Momentum Manual in Black Stone and Modern Concrete interior, with Winter Pack inc heated windscreen on 29/8/18 and was given late Oct 2018 as a guide date. A couple of days after ordering we were called to say delivery would be February 2019 due to there being a supply issue with the heated screen.

After much deliberation we removed the heated screen from the order and the date came forward to 19/10/18 and we're collecting tomorrow :teeth_smile:

Ordered my XC40 Inscription Pro in May and it has been delivered to the dealer last Friday! On time!

Lucky you. My Inscription Pro ordered on 10th May is still somewhere out there. No dates etc etc. Post how you are getting along with yours it will help the anticipation.

A friend ordered a T4 R-Design last week with a May 19 delivery date.

the should be coming through end of March , he can live in hope !

WOW - Looking to down size from an XC60, like many others.

So now a 6 Month waiting time.

My local dealer was asking for a £2K deposit too ?

Good choice - Having sat in an Inscription Pro and an R Design Pro today I much prefer the nubuck seats of the R Design.

I ordered an XC40 T4 Inscription Pro Auto FWD in Onyx Black with Blond interior on 21st December. Estimated delivery date = 22nd March. :regular_smile:

ordered a inscription pro T4 on the 22/12 and have been told 3/3

I’ve also ordered an xc40 inscription pro on the 8/12. Delivery estimate mid March.

i’m concerned i’m being mislead by the dealer as i asked a question today about AWD and said to him wether he would keep me updated and he said of course but he would be more sure ‘from February’ i wish he’d just said March tbc instead of a date...... maybe i should have bought the Tiguan tee hee!

Ordered May ‘19, delivered end Nov ‘19.

New one ordered 5th Jan ‘20 for delivery early March.

Ordered on 3rd Feb estimated delivery shows as 30th June.

Coming back to Volvo after a couple of Hybrid Lexus IS300H. Just ordering an XC40 Phev Inspiration and have been quoted 22 weeks by Lex Autolease. Will be quite happy if that is true, was actually expecting longer :shocked:

they have caught up with demand now, there is a dealer here with 5 ready for immediate delivery , not hybrid though
