Volvo Owners Club Forum - Replacement engine for XC90 T6....?

Hi All,

I have a Volvo XC90 - T6 (With BRC LPG Conversion) Registered 6th December 2012, 93K on the clock.

From what the AA / Mechanics tell me the following has happened: The water pump failed and dripped fluid onto the cam belt. The cam belt slipped and damaged the engine, same as if it had snapped.

My mechanic has replaced the bent valves and tried to start the car up, but this results in tons of smoke out the back. He says there is low compression in the engine and he cannot see the problem when he examines the engine, so it would need to be replaced.

He recommends that I sell the car as spares or repair (with broken engine).

Before I do this, I wonder if anyone has ever had a XC90 T6 engine replaced with a reconditioned one? Do such things as a reconditioned T6 Engine exist, what would it cost (roughly) in parts and labour and where would I get one...

Any help much appreciated.
