Electric 340?

Anyone know of a conversion? I think the 340 might be a good car to convert, quite a lot of space for batteries.

and a fairly light car to start with ,( 950 kg ) fitting lpg tanks each side of the gearbox sounds a better option though :-)

I ran one a B14 for over 200000 miles with LPG , It was an official/Landi-Hartog volvo uk job which they did from 1979 to the mid 1980's before LPG prices rose and they died out . The tank went across the boot at the very rear , it was about 10 inches diameter .

My 1.4 is coming up to 200,000 Miles, engine /transmission are original, nothing replaced.

typical of the breed, my 1980 has done 250000 … :-)

Not enough room for anything other than a very small tank by the gearbox. If not wanting a tank in the boot you could use a 360 petrol tank and then put a lpg tank where the 340 petrol tank went.

That is excellent, hope mine goes that far.

My 340 just passed the MOT, had an advisory, "Front wheel bearings slightly noisy". This is a bit strange, I reckon that it was just a little surface rust on the discs as the car had been standing for a few days, I did check the wheel bearings just before the MOT, no noise and virtually no play.

Last year it passed with no advisories.

The year before the tester said that both front wheel bearings were slightly noisy. I did nothing.

This is the same tester each time at the same garage. He's generally pretty good.

I wish I was younger and had the energy to convert my 340.
