5200 error code - RPM sensor (none)
My C70 2004 Mk1 automatic has been standing around for 18 months or so. Checked the fluid levels and charged the battery and...............
turns over a few times and stops with no start. I Plugged in the error code reader and got back 5200 RPM sensor error. I understand this is a common issue and can stop the car from starting as the ECU doesn't know where "top dead centre" is as it can't count the teeth on the flywheel. The question is this! And I do feel stupid! Are the RPM sensor and the crank sensor the same thing? lots of crank/RPM sensors for sale. Haynes only mentions an RPM sensor............ I have googled and just cant find a straight answer. |
Hi Asherloperly
I am not familiar with the 5200 error code. When you crank it to start it, does it fire up at all and run for a few seconds, before it stops running? Or do you just give up and stop trying to start it? If it runs for just a few seconds, then stops, that is what these cars do if the immobiliser system does not acknowledge the key. Can you try another key and see if that makes any difference? Have you had any other trouble, or have you disturbed anything else recently? I think you mentioned "teeth on the flywheel". I don't think that is how the RPM sensor works. A different code reader might give you more useful info. Hope that helps, Steve |
These two posts look relevant
I would trust the first one more than the second https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/fo...ic.php?t=73337 https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/5...signal.169898/ Steve |
