There are section members who have cars with serious modifications, it would be of great interest if people took a few minutes/hours(depending on the list of modifications :+ ) to write a list of their car's modifications! List away :)

but check my sig for all off mine. here is a random pic of me calibrating my 18t! in the next week or so i should also be able to add a set of custom adjustable front link rods and a koni adjsutable suspension kit to the list! |

I wouldn't says mines seriously modified but theres not many modified S40's out there so we will see

I've been upgrading my car over the last few years. I bought my V70 T5 from Kent Constabulary two and a half years ago, under-par and needing some TLC, and it's now in decidedly better shape!
We think the car is running about 320bhp, I need to get it back on a dyno to confirm. Mods now fitted include: Engine / Tuning MTE ECU upgrade (1.1 - 1.2 bar peak boost) 19T Turbo "Green" Volvo injectors Walbro race fuel pump Aquamist 1S water injection system Ported exhaust manifold Ferrita 3" downpipe and race cat Ferrita 2 1/2" cat-back exhaust Apexi cone filter (might not add to the power, but the NOISE!!!) S60R clutch Suspension / Handling IPD drop links Volvo strut brace Koni "yellow" adjustable shocks and matched springs (front) 850 "R" shocks and springs (rear) 17" Comets (anthracite) with 215/40/17 Falkens 302mm police spec front brakes, standard rear brakes Goodyear braided hoses and DOT 5.1 fluid And coming soon... Limited-slip diff Custom intercooler (possibly with additional CO2 cooling) New front brakes, not sure what yet but the existing discs are sh*gged Custom MTE ECU map I had the work done at Power Engineering (rolling road tuning and diagnostics), SW Autos (hardware fitting, diagnostics and on-road testing), Owen Developments (exhaust manifold porting and turbo matching), MRG Chippenham (Volvo main dealers for the ETM replacement) and On My Front Drive (most of the rest of the work - including fitting the turbo with the car on axle stands!). Kalmar Union supplied many of the parts, others came from VPTuning (drop links), SW Autos (19T, fuel pump), Larkspeed (Konis), A Number Of My Mates (injectors, Apexi cone), eBay (more injectors) and a Northerner I Only Met Once (Comets). I haven't done any custom ECU mapping yet with the car, it's running an off-the-shelf map at the moment. Now the fuelling problem is fixed (tired fuel pump), the car is running on the rich side; I'm hoping for some substantial gains from leaning the car out a bit. Volvo C70 coupe (2.0T - but now quicker than a standard t5) 1) BSR ECU upgrade (Nordic) - Brilliant!!! 2) Ferrita cat back exhaust (SW Autos/ Kalmar Union)- Hmm - sounds a bit nicer but... 3) Eibach lowered springs (SW Autos/Kalmar Union) - Brilliant 4) Bilstein shocks (SW Autos)- hmm I know they r good but....expensive 5) Volvo front strut brace.(Volvo Tollbar Twickenham)...marginal difference 6) IPDUSA Anti roll bar upgrade (SW Autos).....v good with less roll but got used to it and feels like standard now (I need to compare with a standard unmod car) PS - comments r my personal views only OTHERS 1) Discreet rear park assist - SW Autos (after reversing into 2 skips!!) 2) Ebony Black interior trim to replace wood effect (Bailey Coachworks Surrey) Big thanks to SW Autos, Nordic and Kalmar Union for help advice and fantastic service |

1988 Volvo 360 GLE (I guess mine is an R too...)
Volvo R-Sport engine tuning kit (later items no longer available!) -- Twin Solex ADDHE 40 Carbs (Like Weber DCOE / Dellorto DHLA) -- 'K' grind camshaft -- (Soon - electric fan conversion) -- (Soon - performance exhaust) Rolling road tuned at Power Engineering. 138bhp & 145lb/ft. To give you an idea, that's a greater proportional increase than the *claimed* figure for a RICA chipped 850 T5 - the biggest increase offered AFAIK. :D With the e-fan and exhaust, I'm shooting for the mid 140s - not bad for an almost stock 2.0 8v! Am I allowed to post with my DIESEL car, or is this for petrolheads only? It looks bog standard on the outside except for a couple of dings and it's Elk (Moose) badges. Mostly internal cosmetic but some interesting differences under the bonnet. I am still trying to wring the secrets from VW of their 225 bhp D24TIC upgrade. 200 bhp will be enough to go on with. Will have some fairly soon now Iain. I am in need (like D14d) of a decent tailgate spoiler (and a caravan spoiler for the rear roof) to make my rear window stay clean and my cars towing streamlining and stability much improved. It's towing stability is already fine but a little improvement in towing fuel consumption figures would be rather nice. I have also been searching for a suspension tower strut to suit my car (I am not sure if the ones for B230 type engines will fit over my inlet trunking arrangements). I have also found that different pump fuels can differ amazingly in the fuel consumption figures obtained. All the best, Peter. |

Hi all,
I want to claim the prize for least modified! But I'm also the only 240 here. It's a '88 240gl estate. Debadged, all the trim has been junked and I'm still welding the holes up......I've removed the rear windscreen wiper and washer, welded and smoothed the holes. The vinyl trim along the top of the doors/windows has come off and the roof is about to be painted black (red body). The biggest mod is that I've lowered it. By 4 inches all round. Tut tut, cut springs. It's just passed an MOT today so it proves that it can be done safely, although the MOT tester thinks I'm mad. He's probably right. |

Insurance and practicality is keeping me away from engine mods - so far... |

Sadly, my 240 is currently little molested - but I'm collecting parts, and I promise she's going to be a giant killer - much in the vein of the 240s the boys in Sweden spend all their hard earned on :)
Anyhow, more about that when the project is in motion. Now, if only this thread didn't say 'Volvo', I could post about my TVR, and Mini mods; but therein hangs another tale, or two . . . |
Poly bushes.
They replaced tired standard bushes at the same time as the brake upgrade, so it isn't possible to do a proper assessment against the standard article.
However, I've had no front-end handling problems and very accurate steering, so I imagine that much of that is due to the bushes. My opinion would be replace when standard items wear out, rather than spend a lot doing it before that time. |

Bit embarrassing compared to others here though.... 2000 C70 T5 Manual * OEM Strut Brace * RICA ECU upgrade * K&N Panel filter * Longlife custon made S/Steel exhaust with big pipes and a f**k off big tail pipe! ;-) Fantastic sound, as anyone who heard it on the rollers will testify. * BSR 1.5 Bar boost gauge (sat on a shelf until I can find a pod that the wife can live with......has to be the same colour as the interior etc) Wish list: * to actually fit my boost gauge. lol. * aerial down switch * 19T upgrade * Aluminium dash inserts * Maybe, just maybe, a big brake kit if one presents itself for the right money. :-) So far: 260BHP at the wheels on VTs old dyno, and a registered 282BHP on PEs rollers. Not bad for a rica'd 16T with a cat back, hi flow filter and an (at the time) dodgey MAF. :-) Cheers, Dan. |

OK, so here's my car&mods.
The car is a Jan 2000 V40T4 (B4194T2 engine, the last of the 1855cc's) Performance mods: - Hybrid turbo (Machined TD04-14T with Big16G compressor wheel) @ 1.5 Bar - Aquamist 1S waterinjection (currently just used for extra safety above 1BAR) - Bigger fuel injectors 441cc/min Bosch (Stock injectors were just 312cc/min) - JT-tuning 3" downpipe/sportscat/exhaust - PiperX Viper Cold Air intake - TME custom remap Result: 3rd gear (1.3BAR) 275HP 430NM 4th gear (1.5BAR) 292HP 406NM (Measured when ambient temp was 30 Centigrade) Handling/stopping mods: - Koni yellow sports shocks in the front (stock volvo in the back) - Volvo strutbar - Tarox g88 breakdisks + tarox pads + braided steel brakelines (not installed yet) - Toyo proxes tyres, which gave me a LOT more grip than my previous Michelins Other "Investments :-) " - Boost gauge. - Hours & hours & years of internet-research. I've only got a 440 1.8 Xi but I've tried to get it a bit quicker!
Just a few thing decat exhaust pipecross free flow air filter cold air feed NGK racing spark plugs and ignition leads Optimax (when I can afford it! Not looking good at the Moment) It's not as impresive as the other cars but I can get 130mph out of it and it's quick enough to 60 to scare off some so called hot hatches! |

My wagon is already slightly lowered........and awaiting some more work to fill in the 70 odd trim holes around the body. I just need the time to do it. |
