Isofix?
 

hi all, as I am a very proud daddy of a 6 month old who is rapidly outgrowing the belt in car seat that came with the travel system, I have been offered a seat which will go up until he is around 4 by my cousin, it's a very smart top of the range seat, but it needs something called isofix, which if truth be told, I really know very little about, I always thought that it's something built into newer cars which fits universally to things like car seats, but I'm just wondering if this system is backward compatible and could be retrofitted to my phase 1 v40, as from what I can work out its not something it comes with as standard.

I just put the seat belt around my daughter and her seat when she was young ,and around the booster ;) you and me both Clarkey I've heard of isofix but haven't a clue what it was she was strapped in her seat with the seat belt around it she never came too any harm be interesting too find out I might have another in the future lol

In new cars isofix brackets come as standard but sadly on ours there extra's. I managed to get a set but it was stressful work tracking them down. A volvo dealer in American sell them but I failed to receive the ones I bought off them! They pop up on ebay every once in a blue moon. The dealers I visited said I had no chance getting a new set but some other people on there said there dealer could still get them?!

Your looking at about £50 for on side of the car
There abit fiddly to fit but they are a hell of a lot easier then the seat belt and safer too

£50 is money well spent mvr ;)

...but just be aware that simply having Isofix connection doesn't make a child seat safe.

Which did a massive test a couple of years ago which is yours for the price of a trial subscription (£1!) and is very much worth reading before you buy the seat - assuming you can retro-fit.

I looked into retro fitting the isofix mounts a while ago.
The following may prove useful.

The drivers side part number is : 30618404 - Attachment Kit £33.70 inc VAT
Passenger side part number is : 30618093 - Attachment Kit £35.38 inc VAT

I don't recall where I got the prices from or if I confirmed stock of the items anywhere. I didn't order any in the end.
