Engine Vacuum Mount Questions

Hi there,

Recently had both front and rear vacuum engine mounts replaced by my Volvo main dealer. I still have a rather loud popping from the oil filler cap, which does seem to quieten when I squeeze the turbo control valve pipe, which would suggest a vacuum issue specifically with the mounts?. I understand some popping is acceptable but think it’s still more than it should be.

I have noticed a few things I hope someone can help advise me with.

The metal band which wraps around the mount on the front has enough play that I can move it. This is when the engine is off, I haven't checked to see if there is any difference when the engine is running. Just wondering if the mount has possibly collapsed.

Also does the engine need sometime to warm up before the popping goes away / reduces in noise? or should the vacuum mounts work near enough straight away?

Thanks for any help

if you google you can find a great video from sirobb that shows you how to test if its the front or rerar mount or the tubing between them.

Mine pops badly, blocking the engine mount tubes doesn’t stop it.
Following siRobbs (Cheshired5) I have found out my front mount is totally goosed and the back one has a slow leak.
Intend getting these changed, have now got the mounts, over this lockdown period then seeing if the popping is still present and what’s still leaking.

new vacuum engine mounts

After living with leaking engine mounts for more the 4 years, I bought genuine Volvo mounts from - wikingerparts.de- total delivered to Belfast was £ 164.41
Here's the point I want to get across---- The new front mount had a slow leak, and when I contacted them, I was told to bring it to my local Volvo parts dept. as the Volvo warranty is world wide. As I was known to the manager he agreed to order in new mounts, so that he could compare with my faulty one. I seen him completing a ' Parts Warranty Form.' So having waited 8 days for the new mount to come in, I eventually got a replacement.
