Fuel thingy
The word that i can spell but roughly fuel gauge, doesnt look right, but maybe it is.
anyho, is anyone elses dodgy?does the sun affect it?and is there anyway to fix it? cheers for any help! matt |
They're nearly all dodgy. BTW you did spell it right. It could be the sender in the tank, the wiring, or the gauge itself. Try the gauge first, you ought to be able to get a new one from a scrapyard / ebay. Then try the connections onto the sender, if these are rusty that might be the cause.
It is part of volvo ownership though, uncertainty about fuel gauges... |
I dont think I've ever been in an older volvo with an accurate readings for fuel. My parents had 2 340's and both were guess work. My two 440's haven't been so bad though

Yep, my last one was dodgy too. Never went over the quarter mark, if I remember correctly.
Right now I have a fairly accurate gauge that seems to work OK. |
i've had mine for 5 years and it still reads good:Banane45:

Aye, 'If you have to ask (about fuel consumption, etc) then you dont want a Volvo' Most people just use the force. MB. Yours will fail soon. You've just stuck the kiss of death on it.... The 960 ive just got, I dont know if it works or not! Had 740's with faulty fuel gauges for that long, that I dont look at the gauge. When they start spluttering after going round corners I know it's time to chuck the 5 litre can in it from the boot and find a Service station. |
