Well, yesterday i started replacing my drivers side rear light on my 2008 v70 SE. But then got into the corner where i couldn't take the bumper off, so now i need to find a manual on the whole assembly etc...

Went for the MOT so the tester suggested replacing the broken light...

Anyone got any ideas of where i could get the repair manual from? Or some kinda guide? I looked allover youtube, but could only find Yank based xc70 videos, but the bumpers seem to be different, so it's a no go.... :)

Cheers!

First MOT in my ownership last week - passed with flying colours!

Serviced my D5 V70 today. Started with aftermarket filters and upon comparing the quality of the removed ones and my newly sourced ones, promptly went to Volvo and got some genuine ones to fit instead!

The aftermarket cabin filter was so flimsy it crumpled in my hand!

Did my first Christmas shop in my XC70 last night. I usually have bags on top of bags on the back seat after the boot it full, the '70 made light work of them all in the back!!

Fitted glass fibre light guide

I run a TomTom Start25 in the centre console compartment with the Pocket GPS World database of speed camera locations. I have the position icons on the Sensus system but I cannot load my own announcements. So I only need to hear the TomTom camera warning announcements which include the speed limit. The TomTom is plugged into a 12V socket which energises when the ignition is switched on and the TomTom responds by starting when it receives current.

Sometimes I have found that for some unknown reason the system doesn't always start and so I have had to open the compartment to see if the thing is running. I decided that this was a nuisance, so I carved a face down seat for the TomTom screen out of expanded polystyrene and embedded one end of a glass fibre light guide computer lead in the polystyrene pointing up to the TomTom screen. The other end of the lead is mounted in a piece of black foam rubber in the cup holder pointing upward towards me. When the TomTom is on I can see the light of its screen glowing in the tiny tell tale at the end of the light guide. A bit gimcrack but effective. I may make a more permanent installation when the system proves itself and wire in a 12V socket inside the central console compartment to tidy up the whole thing. Well, I seem to have had a lot of time on my hands over the holidays. :_:
