Torque converter advice

Hi all, my torque converter has decided to play up and causing problems even though it was re built 35000 miles ago.

Getting shudder on lock up so had the oil changed got rid of the shudder but now slips of accelerating gently until 60 mph then fine and also the revs are fluctuating 1-200 rpm when cruising between 40-60 mph.

Had it looked at and they said torque converter lock up function has failed so I’ve found a Volvo specialist who will take it out and back in for £550 plus oil.

Was seeing if anyone has had their torque converter rebuilt or just replaced it want to get it done without spending stupid amounts as I’m not impressed this has to be done.

Any advice greatful

Thank you

Daniel

After reading loads of threads and researching the internet I think it might be doing what it’s supposed to do.

The torque converter slips on purpose until full lock up after 60mph so I’m guessing mine is normal but on the downside I’ve found out all my engine mounts are knackered so got to change all those.

Going to have it remapped soon which apparently can help with these boxes Drive better due to the torque being delivered earlier.

So going to leave the torque converter for now especially after reading a few people having the same changing it and it still does the same.
