Boost Issue

Hi guys hope someone could help me just got a s40 t4 1997 model and drove it home fine not booting it as long journey and trying to get good mpg.

Just went out in it there and will boost at 1.1 bar fine all the way up the revs till about 4500 rpm after that the boost will just drop to nothing and won't come back till i change up a gear and the revs drop down below 4500 rpm again.

the car has a baileys dump valve fitted at the back of the engine and i believe it has a TD04-16G turbo which it has been mapped to I'm told by last owner.

any help would be great thanks

Thats in the wrong place for a start mate

djx11b Aug 8th, 2012 21:19

sorry for being dump but with it being there what would that cause compared to it being nearer the throttle body ?

thanks

I think the dump valve would be opening at the wrong time.I had a Baileys on my last T4 running 1.4 bar and it was opening to quick giving me issues so i sold it.Id move it to the front and go from there first

And is it a 16t turbo mate?it will say on the compressor housing

ok thanks i will look at getting a new intercooler pipe for the rear as that one has been cut and then move the valve to the front first.

I would and go from there.Or even blank the vac pipe to the dump valve and drive it first before you move anything

i can't see down there that good will need to remove heat shield and get a good luck at it to see if 16t

if i blank the dump valve pipe off and it runs ok then that would indicate it is the dump valve correct.

thanks
