Hi
I have a volvo dice version 1, which i use on my volvo s40 t4 2002.
In the software tab there is a button 'advanced'.
When i pressed that it showed a screen where i can select a module eg ECM, DSA. I can then click 'send prog' or 'send reset'.

what happens (or what damage can happen) when i press 'send reset'?

i ask because i did press 'send reset' on DSA, ECM, & ABS and now peculiar things are showing up...like DSA code (ECM-13), ECM code (ECM-91 MAF sensor low reading), manifold intake press 2 is low(although that is now cleared).
The DSA light and the engine management light remain lit.
Or are those codes & lights because my MAF is malfunctioning?

The DICE says the reading from the MAF is 0 regardless of RPM.

AND....Before all this i cleaned the MAF using an earbud with iso-propyl alcohol..could THAT have caused/damaged the MAF resulting in all those other issues?

Update to above in the event that anyone reads this...

I replaced the MAF and all the issues above disappeared!!
So it would appear that a faulty MAF triggers a number of other seemingly unrelated issues.
Oh, and I neglected to mention that the intercooler cooling fan would switch ON as soon as the ignition was switched OFF regardless of whether the engine had actually been started or not.

As a follow on, although this could be another thread...
I replaced my OEM MAF with an aftermarket MAF and did some comparisons.
The OEM has a resistance of 17Kohm between terminals 2 (output) & 3 (power in) whilst the aftermarket has 188Kohm...
I must conclude that the OEM has some kind of internal short as I cannot believe that rubbing/cleaning the sensors with iso-propyl would REDUCE the resistance. I would expect any damage to be in the form of an INCREASE in resistance.
I have no idea what the correct value should be as i dont have a working OEM MAF (& at a price of $800 i dont think i will have anytime soon).
Perhaps someone with a working OEM can update us.

As I understood it, the second you touch the wires in a MAF with anything,its scrap.

MAF cleaning is either with sprays that then drip & evaporate off, or not at all. If you scrubbed it, its probably shorting out. that would reduce the resistance.

I did use the same procedure on an Alpha 156 MAF with no ill-effects...in fact it actually rejuventated it, hence my performing the same on the volvo.

However, i do agree with you that i should have used a spray in both instances!

Regarding the shorting: the iso-propyl alcohol had dried by the time i replaced the MAF in the car so i dont see that as causing a short to the electronics in the MAF body.I did inspect the 'wires' under a magnifier and i noticed that the 'wires' appeared to be covered with some kind of flat black ceramic(?) material...if i removed some of that material i would expect the resistance to increase.

Pretty sure some people lightly scrub it without damage. Probably depends on the MAF model itself, some could be very sensitive.
