What scanners/code readers have you tried?

You'll need a +£80 generic one or the VIDA Volvo one - The ones that read engine, gearbox etc codes won't pick up, or clear SRS ones.

There's a lot on here about this - (I've got similar issues too with my car)

Hi thank you for your replies,
The scanners i have icarsoft set for volvo& saab.
Autel Diaglink.
Both scanners say cannot connect .
Any ideas as i have looked at connectors under seats & steering wheel.

In that case, it may be the case that the SRS module is faulty . Only the Volvo Vida DiCE and the very expensive professional readers can read the SRS-0001 error code, which is for faulty SRS module. All other readers, won't be able to read any codes at all

And if it's the 1.9D forget any generic code reader for anything as they are like Fort Knox to get into.

Snap-On Ethos and similar should be able to read all including the SRS module, as above, Vida should also work, unfortunately no easy way around it.

Not if you go in via the Renault Laguna route

Most aftermarket code scanners and VCI's struggle to communicate with the control units on S/V40s with the 1.9d engine. When using the likes of Snap On, Autel, Launch, Texa etc diagnostic interfaces, tell the machine that the car is a Renault Laguna instead of a Volvo. It should communicate no problem then.

Gotcha.

I've only ever used Snap On Ethos and it seemed to access everything okay via the S40 channel, but of course on cheap code readers you can't select a make or model anyway
