Auto box fluid change
 
Hi...my auto box is slipping when it changes gear but once in gear it pulls like a train even if i floor it....would a fluid change help the slipping in between gear changes and if it would is there any pics or help on how to do it...mine is a V70 D5 2007 geartronic 185.

A full fluid change or simply a drain & fill often cures ills like yours.
How many miles are on your vehicle?

It is so easy to do all you need is a 17mm hex and a couple of torx bits (be careful as the one on the top is quite large (t60 from memory?). Also need the 2 gaskets and an o-ring. I have previously done a write up on how I did it.

Best bit of advice I can give you having spent considerable time here is to NOT cycle the gearbox through P, R, N and D for 2 seconds but rather do the first dump and refil and then leave it a week or so to stick a couple hundred miles in. It’s clear that putting the vehicle into gear for 2 secs or even 10 does not circulate the fluid through the box.

XC90 i guess you are confused with the gearbox you need a 17 to take the sump bolt ( 1 washer needed) and a pan for the oil ..it will came out around 3,2 Liters ( i guess)
Put back what ever comes out

I think you are confused. You need a 40 torx to remove the drain level, a 17hex to remove the drain bolt and a 60 torx to undo the fill plug.

Or at least that’s how I did it 3 or 4 times.

You are talking auto gearbox here and not engine are you? Also the engine is not a 17 hex...

Yes and that gearbox (TF80SC) is fitted to later P2 hence the advice given. It's not only on P3.

You're talking about the AW55/50 or 51 fitted to earlier P2.
