roofchop

Hello everyone. My names Matt and I have just got hold of a couple of volvo amazons. One is a very rotten 121 with a b20 and overdrive box. The other car is a 122s 4 door. Its in better condition. Anyway the plan is to chop the roof 3" and make a cool leadsled more door. I hope this dosent offend some of you as these cars would have rotted away anyway. Heres a pic of the car before .

Here is the two cars side by side and the chopping has started. Chopped into 6 pieces and now need to start chopping the white one to fill in the gaps. Everything all clamped up for mock up.

An Amazon suits the lead-sled look quite well IMHO.

How do you get over the front and rear glass and seals?
Russ

The normal aproch is to cut the front glass and slope the rear.

The front screen is going to be sandblasted down to fit hopefully. The rear will be made out of lexan. Unsure about side yet as quarter light has changed shape. May run with the doors frameless. And with no quarter lights. Before I get to that stage I need to sort the best doors and make them good for use. Heres some more pics.

Frame work is adjustable to hold edges of roof skins level.

not bad
when i done mine i turned the wind up glass upside down and had the wind screen cut short then trimed with a 36 grit sander but be warned this is a good way but watch for the sides chipping out which is reduced when it is warm

Nice to see you are not going to rake the back window. To me a raked window does not look quite right.
