Garage recommendations for Brighton and Sussex?
Hi All,
Does anyone have any garage recommendations for Brighton or the surrounding Sussex area as i am picking up my phase 3 v70r at the weekend and need to get it booked in to a garage to have some work done, i have spoken to few local ones but would like to get peoples views from any experience they have had. Thanks for any advice given! |
For my Volvo, I use Doves Gatwick (based in Horley), I did manage to negotiate a better price for the work required for my car, free courtesy car, and valet when work completed.
Another garage I used for my BMW, is Reigate Motor Company (based in Sidlow, Reigate), reasonable price, wash afterwards, free courtesy car, MOT £39, good luck |
Several of us from the Sussex VOC section with differing Volvos have found the service and skills of Amber Garage, Southwick, very good. They are on 01273 595348. They do the complex injection tuning on my 164E and engine work on our Amazon, and all work on a friends immaculate 240GLT, as the original engineers with that sort of knowledge still work there, I gather the newer-car specialists there are very helpful too, and have lots of regulars for servicing.
The only snag - their entrance-way is very easy to miss (between houses) and local street parking is practically nil. Then there is Sussex Volvo Spares, also known as Ingleside Garage, at nearby Lancing. They are on 01903 754216 and Graham/Ray there certainly know the newer cars, although they did the new clutch on my 164 OK. Not biased, but you can see their place when up the ladder repainting the back of our house.... Paul |

For anyone else reading this hoping to find a good volvo specialist in the sussex area then i can only agree with Paul about Ingleside, i would fully recommend them after sending the car that i had just bought for some repairs, a full service, check over and mot. They were very helpful throughout the process, keeping me well informed of the rising costs as they found a couple of faults needing attention. When the car was ready they went the extra mile and let me connect my computer to there printer so i could print of my insurance documents and then took me to the post office so that i could get the tax sorted on the same day as the mot was done, things that most garages wouldn't do. Overall i would say that the service was excellent, the price reasonable (not cheap, but fair for a good garage) and i will no doubt use them again (sooner than i'd hoped after hitting a huge pothole on the first day of driving it!). |
Hi would just like to add that when my car went in for replacement of suspension parts, they also replaced a blown bulb that was not charged for and the courtesy car war a brand new C70 with all the toys, certainly would recommend Volvo at Horley

I would just like to add Charlwood Volvo near Gatwick, they have a website.

Since Din***S Volvo have lost interest in my Volvos, I've moved to Charlwood and get a better service. They know the cars and staff are trained through the Volvo program. Not being constrained by Volvo they (may) be able to suggest more cost effective solutions ..... Website clicky here They also some vroom vroom stuff if you're so inclined. |
I have no hesitation in recommending Charlwood Volvo.
They have undertaken three major services on my V70 D5 plus a couple of odd matters that required rectification. Also a steering lock exchange when the lock jammed. Far better attention to detail and requests than dealing with a Customer Service agent at a main dealer and at a lower price. Well done, Paul and June at CRVolvo. |
