Smart Phone Integration - XC90 Inscription Pro

I am considering ordering a new XC90 T6 Inscription Pro with bog standard audio.

On the 'Build your Volvo' web site at https://www.volvocars.com/uk/car-con...acks?s=B23RE75 I don't see any Smart Phone Integration mentioned as being included, that is unless I actually upgrade the audio to either the Bowers and Wilkins or Harman Kardon sound systems.

A spec' for the regular audio doesn't seem to be mentioned.

Have I got the inference correct in that with this, there is no smart phone integration?

You can connect a smart phone to the car via bluetooth or cable, you can stream music or use your phone internet as a wifi source and car as a wifi hot spot or use phone hot spot and car will pick it up, as well as the usual hands free calling and messaging, the car will read out texts and you can reply via voice control, these are all standard without upgrading anything.
If you want Android auto/Apple carplay it cost £300, I think this is a rip off but others are happy to pay for it. Again it works with standard audio system.

The only other thing I would add to nu11eaf's comprehensive post is that without smartphone integration, the car will not deal with WhatsApp etc messages, only text messages.

I have smartphone integration and use WhatsApp most of the time over texting, so this is a major benefit.

Can you tell me how I reply to a text by voice control? Mine just says it's not available. It will read texts but not allow me to send any.

Depends on your phone as to whether it is available.

Dealer told me that the only way to type a message is using android auto, other than that you would have to use voice control.

For that reason and the fact i have Amazon Music i decided to pay the £300.

Also i like google's maps to any other system I've seen on cars.

I like the satellite feature that displays actual buildings etc especially in areas that i have never been before.

I've not got the car yet so cant give you any more information. However i have heard that Volvos will soon be moving to Android AU which will make Android Auto obsolete, which makes me think.......... is that then a waste of
£300.
