Volvo C30, which one to go for?
Evening all
1st foray into this forum :) Normally in the S60 bit! We inherited a 2012 Peugeot 308 a while ago, and subsequently, and regretfully, sold our R56 Mini JCW Cooper S. Bow looking back, this wasn't the best idea, as both me and my wife miss it lots, but, it was tiny and not ideal for a new family. But now were both properly decided the 308 is too dull for us to cope with, and the o/h loves my S60, but would like something a bit smaller, I suggested a C30 and she likes the look of them a lot, so were on the look out. I appreciate they aren't massive in the boot department, but still usefully bigger than the Mini was, and a fair bit bigger inside. Ideally would be a 1.6d, I know the early PSA engine has issues with the injector seals causing turbo, and subsequently engine failure, what year did they change over? Any major issues to look out for? Thanks in advance Cheers Liam |
2.0-litre Mazda Petrol engine is the one to buy if you want maximum reliability with least maintenance costs and a good blend of power and MPG.

Right I shall certainly try and sample one of those then!
Out of interest are there any towing figures for the C30 listed anywhere? |

Are you only considering "economic" ones? As T5 under the hood is not something you will regret buying when pressing that fast pedal, but will regret when putting another gallon of petrol in.. :D |
That one!

If only I had that sort of money going spare... |
Did the research on the forum before we bought 3, yes 3 2.0L petrol engined V50s and a C30. Engines all good, 40 odd to gallon in V50, only 35 in C30, clutch failed on sons 135k V50 sport though.

Those T5s though...fueling them is a serious commitment!
The 2.5T in these P1 cars seems a fair bit worse on MPG than the older T5s in S60/V70 etc. That is why i always recommend the 2.0 petrol to those who just want a nice daily out of a c30. The T5 is producing max torque from 1,500rpm which is almost overkill in car like the C30. The engine is a torque monster but you pay dearly with fuel costs. The below video is showing an S60 2.5T AWD (208bhp stock) with 5-speed manual gearbox, at a 'stage 2' level of tune...the pulls in 4th and 5th gear are just plain silly.
