Starts but will not rev

Hello all, I have a 2010 C30 2.0 Diesel. Today when I tried to start the car (not from cold) the engine turned over as normal and started. Tick over as normal but when depressing the accelerator there was zero revs! Nothing at all. I attempted to re start the car 3 more times and it did the same every time until it eventually started. It has done this twice today already. Im slightly concerned as I only brought the car today. I have tried reading up but have found nothing... can some one please help me??

Was it "bought" from a dealer or private?

Private. Any ideas?

My first thoughts with research was the throttle position sensor being faulty? It seems to be electrical as its totally intermittent. The car has been perfect all day today... when driving it is as it should be. Good power, no hesitation at all. Smooth etc etc. This tells me that the fuel system is fine as is DPF. Any thoughts will be appreciated please.

Your vacuum controlled throttle flap is sticking shut , eventually engine vibrations free it and all is well until next time . plenty about this problem here in the archives .

Thank you for this! I will clean the throttle body. I'am really struggling to find the replacement gasket that I will require. Can you give me some suggestions as to where you order parts like this gasket from please. I live on the isle of wight so will have to order as SES don't do them. I don't want to remove the throttle body until I have the gasket to replace it with.

Any help will be appreciated. (i'm new to this but completely see how useful these forums are)

Thanks

you do not need a new seal , there is a reusable rubber seal built in .
You need to file some plastic away from the edge of the throttle flap until it does not stick when you press it closed against the spring .

If you do ever need parts try FRF volvo in Swansea. They give discount and will even post overseas !-)
