This is embarassing.. Edrive/driveE/EcoDrive..

After not working since I bought the vehicle and always saying 'Battery Charging', The start/stop function today sprung into life.. but.. when it stops at a junction etc.. what do you do to restart it? I've been pressing the engine start button but I assume this is totally wrong procedure.

Oops.. it's a v60 (62)

You normally just dip the clutch

I assume yours is auto?
If so just hit the gas pedal.

While I agree with the replies given, it doesn't explain why your start/stop suddenly became active.

I'm on my second day of ownership of a V60 with this feature, but on the main display it usually shows as 'unavailable' despite the switch being turned on and lit up. However, for short periods' it does become active and does actually function.

Why is there periods of it being 'unavailable' (most of the time, in my brief experience)? What issues prevent it being available?

I believe it is relating to the battery condition. Although the battery shows as being ok when tested, the ampage may be slightly lower, this causing start stop not to work. This is based on experience with my xc60 which works periodically, however it’s not worth spending £180 on a new battery

Yes agree with Sheded... the functionality of the stop/start is down to battery being fully charged, battery condition & as I found out today the ambient temperature as it wouldn't work while the outside temp was 30 degrees C,

It is very hot at the moment so wouldn't be surprised if your AC is going full blast.
Mine switches off very rarely at the moment, and when it does it restarts quite quickly (before the traffic lights change), so as to get the fan going full blast again. I presume the climate control has priority over start/stop unless car is in ECO mode.

No, the stop/start did activate today while the Aircon was running. But I think the suggestion that it could be related to battery voltage sounds feasible... I only bought the car yesterday and it needed a jump start (then there were low battery warnings), although I did then drive her 50 miles home so it should have got a good charge. The battery is only 3 1/2 years old, so it should be ok?
