No problem finding replacement cam but followers seem to be a problem

The price of a B16 cam from Brookhouse is very steep so I hope you have a better source. Better as in cheaper! £300 from CVI. Still rather silly.
Check the Penta marine places for followers. They did a B16 marine version. Cams for these, according to CVI are now supplied as B16b. I think they used to be B16a.

Even KG Trimning don't have followers. What would be the result of using old followers on new cam if push came to shove? I know that it's not good practice. Will try Penta Marine

If the followers fit snugly in their bores and the faces aren't scored it might be possible to get them refaced. This is a specialist job as they are not just a flat surface at right angles to the bore. The face is shaped and slightly angled to encourage them to rotate to minimise wear. With the tin side plates off you can at least check for wear easily on the B16.

Seems strange that you can buy the cam but no lifters.Aren't they usually sold as a pair

G'day Arcturus, have you tried asking on here about the bits and pieces for your rebuild,a good/serviceable cam and followers etc. glad you are doing all of it,will be worth the effort when it is up and running like a bird again, sooo smoooth!!!! As Wesley(Last of the Summer Wine) would say 'She's a real beast!

On close inspection the cam followers don't seem too bad, slight pitting on one or two. Have been given this contact in USA "isky cams" but suspect it would cost an arm and a leg once the customs here got hold. So far unable to contact them.Their "contact"site doesn't work for me.

Rob at Amazon cars uses Isky cams in some of his engine builds so might have a good contact. You use Brickboard, ask there.

Big holiday in USA Today. They may be closed through Monday.

I’m on holiday myself, so no computer, just outdated l-phone. But try cdn2.ms-motorservice.com or google “valve train components
& cylinder heads 2018”. See pages 32 & 43 for English. Volvo components start at around page 930, but I couldn’t manage to scroll that far. May also provide you a source for valve seats.

Do you have all measurements? You can probably get lifters of proper diameter, but length may be an issue, calling for different length pushrods.

Should be doable. On my MGA engines, I use a lighter, non stock lifter (follower) but must also use a longer pushrod.

But the trouble with engine mods is that once you start “cheating”, it’s often hard to stop.
