I've been banned from my Volvo dealership!

Today a 20 year relationship with our local Volvo dealership Tyn Lôn Volvo of LlanfairPG ended.
I called in with my son Matt to collect some parts that were ordered. We had just dropped a car off at the local scrapyard beforehand. We were virtually across the grey anti-slip mat which covers the ceramic tiles on our way to the parts counter when a man close to door shouted at us.
To cut the story short we had managed to leave a trail of oily footprints behind us. We apologised and checked our boots which by then were clean. Whilst waiting to pay for the parts we were again approached and again apologised and explained how it was unintentional. On leaving I went to apologise again and was basically told we were no longer welcome! This is despite spending a lot of money annually with them.
We dicovered afterwards by speaking to the sevice manager that the person concerned was the dealer principal and the service manager apologised for the way we had been treated.
This has been followed up by a complaint to Volvo Customer Services who have contacted the dealership asking them to try to resolve the matter in the next 24 hours. I will await the outcome with interest. However the damage is now done. I have always tried to support local businesses but whatever the outcome most of my business will now be done mail order.
I feel this is a very sad of affairs but to be honest comes as no surprise as the world seems less and less willing to accept people in "working" clothes.

Had the same happen to me at a volvo dealer. Went in to order some parts in my jogging bottoms and a t-shirt, went over to the part dept and was told it was closed. I was then escorted out (hand behind my back guiding me out of the building) by a "snotty" salesman.

later told by a mechanic friend who works there that he is often like this.

However i have been in there before and have been treated well by the guys in the parts dept.

However it does seems these days that they are only interested in you if your looking to buy a new car with a warranty!!

so i only go to a dealer now when i have to.

I've had the same kind of treatment before as well in a dealership!
I had some back from the gym to pick up my vehicle, and was still in my shorts and t-shirt, they didn't look impressed at all when I walked in, and somone approached me and suggested I had the wrong building! That was before I even opened my mouth!

"Ermm I've come to pick my car up"

" I don't think so Sir" was the response!

I turned around and walked out...then walked back in and said
"So can I confirm that you are stealing my vehicle if so I'll have the police around here in a jiffy"

After they finally realised I had actually come to pick up my vehicle, I made as much noise as you could imagine in front of their sales department and potential buyers...two walked out! Result!

Wasn't Volvo though was Toyota, but I've had the same look before with Volvo, sorry but when I'm not wearing a suit I'm in scruffy jeans and shirt and trainers that have gone around the world three times!

I had a similar 'snotty experience' recently, went in to drop off my T5 for a new key and fob, everyone in a suit or tie was treated'how are you sir' and was made a drink.I had on jeans and t shirt so went over to the drinks machine and said in a loud voice 'shall i make my own coffee then as i'm not in a suit'?Is our money not the same then if we dont have on smart clothes?

Ben.

I am devastated, and shocked. I really hope this gets sorted out soon.

I am presuming there was no sign 'check shoes are clean - no muddy boots please' or even a floor mat provided? Never mind you are the customer and you should not have to apologise.

My Experiance with dealers is a bit mixed. When i went to buy my CTR, I was refused a test drive on the grounds that being 21, meant I was a chav to them, and just wanted to thrash one round the block for half an hour!

I eventually managed to get a passenger ride, and bought the car, but the after service i recieved was DIRE. VERY VERY bad, so much so, that I wont EVER buy another Honda.

Stoke and Cannock dealers were just as bad. Totally unacceptable service.
I didnt bother complaining, as it would of probably gone in the bin.

Porsche on the other hand. Me and a mate wondered in, funnily enough, after he had just paid a deposit on a private sale CTR, we agreed on the way back to pop into Porsche just for a laugh.

So out of the 740 we get, jeans and t-shirt both of us, and wonder into the showroom.
There was one chap in a suit looking at a Boxster. Various good looking babes on the reception desk :D
So me and a mate wondered round, had a look at the second hand cars, and a salesman came over "Can I help you at all". My response: "No thanks, we are just dreaming!". Salesman: "It costs nothing to dream. I'll leave you to it gents, take care"

And that was that. All in all, I enjoyed it in the porsche dealership. No real snobbery (Although not all Porsche dealers would be so accomodating i guess) and just left us to it!

As for Volvo dealers, Ive only ever been into the Stafford dealer for an oil filter, so cant really comment much on them.

No such sign - we have been in hundreds of times and are on first name terms with many of the staff. We've helped them out when they have had problems with locating discontinued parts for the older Volvos and had an extremely good relationship. I can't help what would have been said had it been dog sh1t instead! Talking of which we realised afterwards that Matt was wearing his working hat which has the words "SH!T HAPPENS" on it - it certainly did today.
