Volvo 240 GLT Manual Estate for sale 1990 (spares/repairs)

Hi all

My lovely faithful 240 GLT manual Estate is up for sale.

Having enjoyed a stay of execution it went on to serve me well recently taking me from Brighton to Buckingham twice a week without a hitch.

Alas I started a new job in Burgess Hill last week and in thick fog managed to swerve past an animal and hit the lower wishbone against a high kerb.

The wishbone needs to be replaced and with MOT time looming I have decided to cut my losses as I need a car for the commute and don't have time to do the work and wait for the parts needed. I have 5am starts and work very long hours and cannot wait for garages etc to do the job.
I have replaced the 240 with a 740 Turbo for the meanwhile.

The car needs at present:
New wishbone, o/s track rod end. There is no other damage sustained from the collision with the kerb. in the last few weeks the fuel gauge no longer works so needs a sender unit and while you are there can do the in tank fuel pump which is noisy.
The MOT expires 4th May but the car should go through. 5000 odd miles have passed since the last one and she has only done motorway miles since.

I have replaced the following:
Alternator (pattern)
Front wiper motor (new Volvo part)
Headlights (new pattern part)
rear o/s light cluster (new scantech part)
cambelt (5000 miles ago)
Front pads and discs (5000 miles ago)
thermostat
1x core plug
Rear stiffened springs
new tailgate struts
brand new rear tailgate screen

She has passed the 200000 mark under my ownership with me having bought her with 189 000. The axle whines a bit but has been like this for the past 6 years oil in the axle is in good condition. Gearbox and clutch are also good.

Other than a small 5p sized scab on the rear wheel arch lip the body work is excellent for her age with only a shallow dent on the near side front wing edge. All plastic trim is present. Leather interior is good for its age no cracks to speak of.

Tyres are legal and all 5 Virgos are in good condition too.
The car has a genuine Volvo tow bar which has been a real help.

Extras to be sold separately at extra cost:
7 seat kit: £35
Volvo fog light covers: £15
Roof rack sprayed in black: £35
Plastic boot liner: £30
Volvo winter mats £10
Brand new in box scan tech rear o/s light cluster £10

I also have other spares such as a GLT grill £10, bonnet cable £10 and other odds and ends like headlight glass, etc

I can deliver these bits to any interested parties at cost I need to sell so I can purchase these items for my 740 or I can trade for 740 roof racks boot liners load covers etc.

All in all a good, rare car for someone with a bit of work will make a fine cruiser once more.
The car is taxed until February next year but this must be purchased separately too.

£325 gets you the car. Will drive onto a trailer or get your breakdown to take you home it is currently on my drive.

thanks Brodgar.

It's a shame but time to move on. I'm pretty happy with my 740 Turbo.
This car has done everything and more than I could wish for from a car but I was looking at weeks before I could get it back on the road due to my working hours and I need to be mobile.

It needs to be off my drive within a couple of weeks so needs to be moved on fairly quick.

I'm interested in the mats and load liner - how much for delivery to Cambridge?

Hi all

The buyer left a deposit but has pulled out of the deal for lack of time to collect.

Car needs to go asap anyone want it for £195? I have it on gumtree but the only responders seem to have Irish accents and I would hate that to be its fate...
