240 GLT saloon

5 Attachment(s)
For sale Volvo 240 GLT saloon 2.3 k-jet automatic. Electric windows all round and manual wind back sunroof. Central locking. Black leather interior with wear patches especially drivers seat. Dark metallic grey Paint is rough in places, lacquer faded on one rear wing and lots of little dents and scratches so showing it’s age. I like the way it looks and I think they call it a ‘survivor’. This car starts first time every time hot or cold and I use it (occasionally) in all weathers to go places (I’m not really one for sitting in fields) as it is fun to drive. The heater blower works fine which is important. Being a well fettled 2.3 it is quite nippy and powerful. MOT September.

My project car since 2013 when I bought it off the forum as a neglected non runner that had started to have a few bits and pieces removed. When I first got it and to get it through mot it had these jobs done:
Replacement automatic gearbox and torque converter with new kick down cable
Brand new headlight units and replacement sidelight lenses
Chassis professionally welded around the rear wheel arches
Fuel tank sealed and coated (I got a local firm to do this in hindsight it would have been easier and cheaper just to fit a new tank!)
Since then it has had:
Brand new front disks, callipers and the rears refurbished with new pads all round
New Anti roll bar bushes and various other bushes replaced with standard (not poly)
New Steering ‘drumsticks’
Replacement power steering pump and new belt
Refurbished alternator with new voltage regulator
New matched pair fan/ alternator belts
New replacement water pump
Cam belt changed
Brand new replacement flexible brake hoses all round including some metal braided type
Brake fluid completely flushed and replaced with new (hoses and fluid just done)
Four new tyres medium price range and a good spare (all on Virgo’s)
New injector seals, o rings and new cold start injector o ring
New green injector relay
New oil and oil, fuel and air filters (done every year)
Replacement coil, spark plugs, rotor arm, cap and leads (I’ve tried various rotor arms and it’s set for optimum)
Replacement refurbished wiper motor with additional earth lead
New thermostat
Slight modifications include LED strip illuminated instrument panel (I got sick of driving around guessing how fast I was going at night)
Sidelights can be turned off (sacrilege!) but all lights work as normal on standard switch
Professionally installed uprated 5 speaker audio system with Bluetooth head including sub-woofer (cabinet still a work in progress)
I’ve got a lot of 240 spares and over the years have replaced various trim and bits and pieces i.e. door cards. I’ve chucked the front door pockets because I don’t like them but have a pair if wanted.
Replacement bonnet hinges modified to allow for the bonnet to be adjusted (lowered) to fit better than new.
Replacement horns
Pressed metal number plates
Additional Security measures
Mileage is nearly 200k but the milometer has stopped counting - I’ve got the parts to fix this and might get around to it (or I’ll include the parts).
I guess it’s more or less as finished as I’ll get it so time to move it on. You’ll get lots of comments and attention in this (a postman nodded his head saying ‘nice, very, very nice’) especially if you turn the music up to 11.

I’m looking for £2.5k and cash always talks but if you think that’s too much it probably is. Buy a different 240 GLT in dark grey with black leather (if you can find one) and fettle it yourself and see what it comes to. Do me and yourself a favour as I won’t be doing 400 emails and/or being messed about (yes I’m talking to YOU, the numbnut that wanted a front wing from my spares dept) I’ll include a load of spares at that price including two replacement front doors (complete with hinges and all fittings), rotor arms and caps, green relay and a few bits that are likely to drop off. Offered on the forum first and I’m in no rush to sell. Come and have a look if you’re serious but don’t hang around.

Cool van btw but not for me. Everyone has a weakness and my head could be turned by a yank tank needing some work......

Yank tanks always need work! Worth it though.
Nice Volvo, good luck with the sale.
