Fitting dashcam

Looking at fitting dashcam to xc60 2018. I don't like wires trailing over the dash, anyone know if there is a USB power take off option in the windscreen camera housing? Pity the dashcam function is not incorporated in the forward camera - wonder if this will be a future option.

It should only take a few minutes to run a dash cam power cable under the headlining, across the A pillar and down the door seal to whatever power point you choose. The only visible wire should be the short tail from the headlining to the camera.

I found this video, shows how this can be done, sadly no how-to

Other threads have recommended not going across the A-pillar, as this could interfere with the airbag deployment, but instead to go down the windscreen side of the A-pillar and into the side of the dash. From experience, I can say that this is a real pain and requires lots of trim removal (and piggy-backing into the fusebox is an exercise in frustration!).

I can't help on the OP's question, though that would have been a great option.

If running down the driver side A pillar you can buy an adaptor to take a 5v feed from the ODBC port under the dash. Saves using a 12v socket and also can be switched with ignition or left live for parking mode using a switch on the adaptor. Look on eBay for ODBC micro or mini USB adaptor. I've just bought one for less than £10 and it works a treat.
