2.4 vacuum pump

I am unable to find this online but can any one tell me what the vacuum pump operates on the 163hp 2.4 diesel turbo.
A picture or a written description would be appreciated 👍

This is it.I've to replace mine at the local garage but if I was having some tools it's not a difficult job to do it.

That's a boost solenoid not a vacuum pump.
This is a vacuum pump.

Thanks for that guy, but the question was what does the vacuum pump operate on the engine?

It's simple enough to just follow the pipework but the vacuum system is explained in my video here.

Ok, well it depends on the model year.
The title of the thread is 2.4D 2005 onwards.
If the OP has a badged 2.4D, that's a Euro 4 163 which doesn't have the boost solenoid you pictured.

Regardless, it will also operate the brake booster and the control valve which operates the vacuum engine mounts but further clarification is required by the OP as 2005 could be Euro 3 or 4 dependant on build week and model year.

Thanks chaps 👍👍

Hello there , the vacuum pump on a diesel engine is used to create a vacuum in the brake servo mainly , as well as generate negative pressure requirements for any other items needing it .

You will also find that if you press & hold the brake pedal with a diesel engine running , the pump will continue to create an increasing negative pressure in the system & te brake pedal will continue to descend , use that as proof your vacuum pump is functional .

Hope that helps

On the 185, and probably the 163 euro4 engines it also operates an egr cooler bypass flap/valve on the manual transmission versions.
