C70 Mk2 Roof Issue
Hello everyone, I have recently bought a 2008 C70 D5, it's a fabulous car and still feels great despite its 175,000 miles! I intend to join the VOC and the HMC shortly.
However there is a small and inconvenient issue with the roof mechanism - when the roof is down and I go to the boot to press the yellow switch to lift the top up slightly for access, nothing happens. When I go back into the cabin it says there is a roof failure and to read the manual. It goes away after a few minutes and I am able to use the roof normally, there is just a problem with this switch. Is there normally a common sensor that fails that will throw up this message or am I better off taking it to a dealer to diagnose? :gulp: Had a bit of a Google but no definitive answers. |
Can’t really help, other than sympathise, I’m afraid.
Mine’s failed twice so far, the first time when I first went to view/buy it, so I don’t know what was actually repaired. The second time is currently, I looked on 'tinternet and it suggested sensor S3 at the boot hinge, but I’ve been told it could be broken wiring. At the moment I’m just living with it, so I will be interested in (more helpful than this) replies! Malcolm |

File attached to save you searching. You can try and diagnose/fix yourself but VIDA diagnostics software is a must if anyone has it in your area.
The attached document shows the posiitons of the hall sensors and how to replace. I had a hydraulic pipe fracture in the boot last year stopping the boot lid closing. Hydraulic faults are easier to find as you normally just follow the trail of fluid! A pair of pipes was £300 but its all sorted now. There are some good independents about (Caymen Autos etc.) but these are a long way from you. Never tried them, but someone like Hoodtech might be able to help. |
