Looking for a V70R

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a V70R manual 52-55 plate, high (ish) mileage to reflect a reasonable price.

I'm struggling to find a good one for less than £5k...

If anyone knows of one of be interested.

Thanks guys.

Looking for a cheap V70R to buy is a very big gamble with these cars.

It's a very good idea to look at the mot gov site to see what has been done to it over the years and if it's failed mots on things.

If there's no history with the car be very careful what you buy.

It's always going to be a potential gamble buying an R for £5K. This will put you in the older age bracket with the haldex system that was more prone to failing (improved from 2007). For this money, I'd be looking at a 2.4 T5 (260bhp), where £5K should get you a good one. You can then keep an eye on e-bay for set of Pegasus wheels and V70R front bumper.

I've got a 1998 V70R auto with 196k on but fancied AWD and the extra horses as well as the modified looks etc.

Are the 52-55 plates not so reliable?

£5k will get you something but you may have to accept a few knocks etc. leather maybe neglected and history may be missing. A budget of £7k would be more realistic and give more choice.

Good luck with your search though, just take your time.

Cheers Cadaron.

There are a few nice ones around the £6-7k mark. I'm keen for a manual as my current R is an auto FWD.

I'm expecting the difference to be very noticeable on power and handling...?

Sparrowhawk,

Had a 2003 V70R auto before i bought my current manual, agree, the difference is very noticable (around 2 seconds), manuals demand a premium, but if you find a good one then go for it. Sold my 03 for 7k and bought my 05 for 12k with 30k miles FVSH, 1 enthusiastic owner and stock, and no regrets.

Also, the ebay link R is for spares or repair. You can see front spoiler is damaged. At just over £1k would be alright if you needed a full car for spares lol.

There is a silver 53 plate manual with 120k for £7k on ebay at the moment if you know your cars and dont mind a risk.

Cheers guys, looks like the safer route is to find a nice one and take the financial hit.
