Side steps (Running boards) fitted

Found a company that do aftermarket copies of the Side steps. Bought a set from Fastlane Styling (link at the bottom) £224.99. They took about 1.5 hours to fit, the quality if the castings were pretty good and we're pretty happy with them...

These are definitely worth having - I've had two car park incidents now where having side steps has avoided my car needing any paint repairs - not so the cars that have hit me :-)

I've been looking at these. I contacted the company who stated they will fit an r design without any adjustments?

Volvo says the running boards will not fit an R-Design

Reason: The R-Design has a brushed aluminium sill trim, and Volvo say the running board won't fit when the sill trim is fitted.

Sorry, can't comment on the R-Design. Ours is an Exec.

as for the R-Design just place a couple of extra washers on the bolts to lower it further, job done

I am after some side steps. It would appear at that cost you could get genuine Volvo ones rather than aftermarket could you not?

As far as I recall, the genuine Volvo ones were £600+, not sure if that included fitting!

I spoke with Volvo in Bury (near Manchester) approx a year ago and they wanted over £900 supply only so add fitting cost on top...

Back to eBay for the non genuine ones me thinks ...

That would shorten the amount of thread screwed in to the hole on the front and rear suspension mountings, not recommended....
