Volvo S40 Strange Deadlock Noise??

Hi, just wondering if anybody has experienced the same problem, when i double lock the car, after about 20seconds you can usually here a sort of clicking noise which i think is the deadlock? Well instead of the click noise its making a loud screaching type noise? Thanks

May be the fuel filler door as this locks a few seconds after the car locks.

The fuel filler is only opened on these with a button press so it won't be that.

I get that noise too, doesn't bother me at all.

In S.A. these cars were sold with a 5 year 100km maintenence plan. My car is a 2008 model and 4 and a half years old. It was making this same noise from the passenger side rear door - dealer identified it as faulty deadlock and replaced it under warranty - even though i'm the second owner. They had to order the part and the day the repair was done the drivers side rear deadlock started making the same noise.

Can't tell you yet if its part of the central locking motor but will ask when i go back to get the other one done. The car still locks and unlocks in spite of the faulty deadlocks. I do get a warning message saying there is a problem with the locks when the electronic rear childlocks are enabled / disabled so probably best to get it done. You don't want passengers (maybe your kids) trapped in the car in an emergency.
