Diesel and carpets dont mix!
Hello all
I have been an idiot, I pumped some diesel out of an older car and put the canister in the rear foot well, some spilled out and got in the carpet. Now before I throw several different chemicals on it, does anyone have any tips to get the diesel out properly and not masking it? Many thanks, Signed, The Idiot! |
plenty of carpet shampoo and a wet vac repeat with clean water several times.

You'll probably need something to break down the oil in the diesel first, something like kerosene or white spirits, then use a good detergent.
As Simmy says it may take several attempts with a wet vac and try to obtain a foam each time to lift the diesel from the pile. If you have a houshold dehumidifier leave it in the the car overnight. |
to aid the drying process use some lining wallpaper folded to fit the footwell and stand on the paper this will blot up any moisture left behind as mentioned a dehumidifier would help the drying process also.
