TD powered 960 - 1995 or later

Was the 1995 and later 960 available in UK (or anywhere in Europe) with the D24TIC powerplant?

I am soon starting a conversion project in the States to transplant a D24TD (TIC when I'm done) into a 1998 90 series (late 965). The only "open" issue is the final engine and transmission mountings on the later crossmember made only for vertical mounts.

I am just trying to learn whether the combo was actually produced, as I'll hunt down ready parts if they exist.

I don't think so, as far as the UK is concerned I think the diesel was only ever available in the 940.

I would guess the later changes to the D24TD engine were to help improve power and emissions, but the car was still called a 940TD but I believe it had other improvements to suspension and chassis as well over my 1991 model.

However we do have a conversion on the 960 register. This 960 had a D24 transplanted when the Petrol engine developed a leaky crankcase (there were quite a few from an early batch which had developed porous blocks). I would love to be able to transplant the D24 being tuned up by one of our American correspondents. When he has finished it I will see if he can send me the details for an article. He is running his on B100 (100% Biodiesel fuel). He doesn't want to take the boost over 30psi till he has sorted his wastegate actuator.

All the best, Peter.
