Bumper fastener spec?
Hello All, first time poster but long term lurker (so forgive me if this has been asked and answered earlier!). I have removed the front bumper from an XC70 to replace some bulbs and have lost one of the Torx button head screws that pull the sliders in to capture the ends of the bumper at each side. At first, I wasn’t too concerned and left it out, presuming I could find the spec easily enough…
Anyway, after hours of searching the net by me and my son, I’m throwing myself on to your tender mercy. What the heck is the spec for this fastener? And has anyone found the correct exploded diagram for a 2005 XC70 2.4 D5 T5244 163PS? It’s 30mm long, anodised black, has a washer and is captured by a U-spring nut on the sliding plastic part. Thanks in advance! |
main dealers or breakers yard is your best bet

i think this is the equivalent one for my car but it reckons 22mm https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-part...48-mm/1027987/
you could try that same site and putting your VIN number in, looking through the various fasteners the shipping from europe is a killer though I'd just make a note of the size and find an equivalent is this right ? https://www.accu.co.uk/self-tapping-...RoCxxAQAvD_BwE if you get a copy of VIDA it has all the exploded diagrams (again if you put your VIN in) it's not just for having a DICE and connecting to the car it's also a really handy parts catalogue |

Don't forget the washer, part number 986498

Thanks everyone!
I’m going to sort a replacement today hopefully!

Don't be caught out by exaggerated prices from some for what is a " bog standard" fastener:~
Engineering suppliers are good for all types or a nut/bolt supplier if you have one local.. looking at the one posted in the forum then if required quickly I would think your local "Shed" DIY store will have a bag of them for buttons! Good Luck. Bob. |
Fasteners
Too right, Bob!
That’s why I needed the spec. It was the thread pitch and length that were problematic. I wasn’t bothered that the replacements might not be Torx head. Spring nut threaded fasteners longer than 15mm are seemingly unavailable in northern England this year! Got some stainless P2 pan head ones in the end. What a carry on! |
this is why I added the accu.co.uk link where they were 40p each .. of course the shipping probably ruins it but you can see what 1 should be worth anyway
I wouldn't bother with the right part either I'd just rummage through the screw collection in the garage or use a rivnut depending on if that is suitable in some cases |
