Best Product for dehazing headlights

Hi All,

The headlights on my 2005 S60 are now looking pretty hazed over.

Whats the best product for getting them up & sparkly again ?

I haven't got an electric drill or access to one as I currently reside in a hotel.

I once heard toothpaste would work but I'm not sure if someone was pulling my leg. Maybe the whitening stuff? At least they would be minty fresh if you wanted to try licking them clean.

I'm not suggesting that you do this but. Many years ago when I was a lad, blah de blah. I had a ford Capri, with the same problem that you have. I rectified it using plastering sand mixed with a small amount of water. Headlamp removed, put two tablespoons of plastering sand into the headlamp with the glass side down, add a little water and swill it around the inside of the lens. The sand polishes the glass. Don't allow the reflectors to get polished. When you think its ready. Empty the sand out and rinse with clean water. It worked for me but never done it since.

Metal polish with plenty of elbow grease will clean them (eventually)

This is what you want, borrow a cordless drill, it's the only way to get them done properly.

They go cloudy pretty fast on ours - I've used this one from Halfords before then our indy did them for nothing at the last service.

I think the 3M product may be better.

There is an aerosol spray that clears the plastic lens... A local man who repairs cars in a small lock-up sprayed mine and they're now clear..
Whatever it was he uses leaves a clear coating on the surface and you mustn't touch it for a couple of minutes as it's sticky at first.. he wouldn't tell me what the spray was and said he found it out purely by accident.

I suspect it's some kind of electrical contact cleaner..
