Blowlamp

I just got one of these for plumbing work.

They are solid and heavy construction.

Map gas from tool station or use cheaper propane if you don't need greater heat.

It's free delivery as it's just over a tenner.

The benzomatic in the post above is identical to a Rothenberger, good stuff but pricey for occasional use.

You can heat seized bolts up with all of the different gasses, they all burn hot enough as faint red steel is at 930c
1970c Butane
1980c Propane
2980c MAPP
3100c Oxy/Acetylene
The difference is in the torch tip and the amount of gas being burnt. The bigger the torch tip the bigger the size of bolt you can heat. If it doesn't produce heat fast enough you will just burn through a bottle or can of gas and only get it warm. The bigger the tip the faster the gas burns. If the bolt is surrounded by a bigger lump of metal then you will need an even bigger torch tip. For a 1/4" to 1/2" bolt you will need a tip that will at least produce 2 to 3 kilowatts.

That was a good explanation. I was trying to heat the tie rod nut wirh small propane torch. And as you said it just burnt the gas....
