Wastegate solenoid 0244

Been a while since I was here , went to the darkside of Nissan for a year.

Bought a v70 d5 a few weeks ago 156000 miles , last week the wife said it had no power , scanned the codes and got this one 0244 .

I had no trouble with it until earlier , I had removed the code simply to see if it returned.
I got on the bypass near where I live and got to 70 but that`s where it stuck,
It became like I was driving without a turbo, got home, then went out again and it feels fine again although the code is back.

I rang a specialist in timperley and he`s already thinking that I need a new turbo , is this the case?
Because the car came with 3 month warranty for major mechanical would I be covered?( the warranty is still live)
I rang fast parts about a wastegate solenoid but didn`t really know what the part was.
If anyone has a part number , much appreciated,

cheers

The D5 do not have a wastegate , they have a VNT Turboif you find some one with Volvo vida you can test the solenoid and vnt actuator , the vnt veins in the turbo can stop working because of carbon, making it coked up,
so if it is covered I would take back an get them to clean the turbo and do the other tests,
Dave

P0244 is the approximate equivalent of Volvo code ECM6805.
Check the sticky at the top of the section for a lot more information.

It can be caused by a large number of things including (but not limited to), leaking vacuum engine mounts, Turbo control valve issues, split hoses, soft (collapsing hoses), MAF or MAP sensors, sticking turbo vanes, faulty turbo actuator, fuel filter or fuel pump issues, injector issues (maybe), intercooler faults/leaks, etc.

By the look of your signature, you have the Euro 3 engine and not the Euro 4 so other things like swirl flaps shouldn't be a potential issue.

Basically, anything that can affect the air fuel balance calculations or measurement

seized turbo actuator , it`s been freed and lubricated ,so far so good.

My 2003 V70 D5 has a similar issue

Sometimes if I accellerate hard it goes into limp mode causing the car to drop below 70kmh, but when i stop and turn the engine off and then on again it operates fine once more.

I of course will run through https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...ighlight=p0244 when I have time.

I have used an "Intey My-021 OBDII/EOBD + CAN" tool, so my rev counter figures are not going to be that acurate.

MAP:
Ignition on engine off = 149
Idle = 97
~2.2K = 137

MAF:
ignition on engine off = 11.8
Idle = 16.8
~1K = 16.8
~2.2K = 54.5
~3K = 57.1
~4K = 79.4

I replaced the IC last year.

Hi with the map reading 149, is that in kpa ?

What is the atmospheric pressure reading were you are, look on the internet,
it should read about the same, do this at the same time ,

and with the maf reading ,is this in g/s and are these readings with you driving the car, or just revving it without moving,
