2005 V50 2.0D - Oily air filter
Hi all,
The car in question is a 2005 V50 2000cc Diesel. I've decided to change my air filter recently, and it turned out to be a bit oily(not soaked). The last time I've changed it was an year and a half ago and it was OK. Also, there's a bit of oil leak underneath the body throttle before the inlet manifold, which tells me that theres a bit of oil in the manifold too. The car starts a bit rough, and smokes a bit for a minute, after that everything is fine. I've read on the internetz, that it could be a fault with the PCV valve, but nothing particular for the v50 2.0d one. Has someone had an issue like this? Other possible faults? Any ideas for diagnosing the problem? Option for a PCV delete? Thanks in advance! Cheers! |

Have you’re this out? I have (what I think) is a bit too much oil and carbon deposit in my throttle body, although I tend to think it’s never been cleaned. Also can you tell me if you took it apart, is the flap open or closed in resting position? That would be very helpful for me. Thanks! Oil from the turbo and soot from the EGR should not contaminate the air filter?

I know, although I’ve seen worse. I have a hunch that this engine and car not been looked after and loved, and someone somewhere done the line moles/tampered with the engine. Lots of little things don’t add up, or missing/changed and odd bits are where there should be something else. Not the end of the world, but could be better I reckon. It is sorted now, and all happy! |
