just been speaking with the guy turns out hes actually a nice fella fingers crossed he may come to my rescue the car was so bad he felt least this way it helps keep other amazons on the road with its parts :) i still would have fixed it up back to full health just that same old story , the four doors seem to be the ones that suffer funny thing is back in the day everyone wanted a good family car and hence the four doors being in demand now its in reverse its all 2-doors thats wanted swings around with the times i spose and what with some being older and family all grown up the 2-door is a sporty option

It seems to be a rule of thumb with classics, the lower spec utility type models, end up being the rarest, and often the most sought after.
So, go looking for MK3 Cortina L s, and leave the Ghias and GXLs to the less informed.
Same with Volvos too, I suspect that Torslanda 240s , with manual everything, will become quite rare soon, with everyone stampeding for GLTs.
will four door Amazons get saved?
I suspect many will, simply because they are great cars to drive, rather than pretty possessions to look at, and what better way to get your young families into old cars?

As suggested, "get your young families into older cars"
My son aged 12 helped me to restore our amazon, he was 16 on its completion.. I suggested he should take pictures and put down a few sentences as a bit of a project. This he did, and sent it out with his job applications.Out of 1300 written applicants, chasing 5 engineering apprenticeships, he was successful.
He is now qualified, his employer has stated his car project had more influence on them than his qualifications gained at school.
The problem now is due to declared "modifications" ie the front seats and alloy wheels, i cannot add him on to my classic policy, until he is aged 25.
Chris.

Chris.

All of our kids are quite blasé about being driven around in our old cars, but some of their friends are shocked by the Spartan interiors, noise, and different smells.
I love seeing child seats in old cars at Hotrod Runs, or even some of the more interesting classic shows, cars are for moving people after all.
Toyota people carrier/ Amazon Estate?
I know which I prefer
