Does it have the dreaded, and very expensive, DPF??? If it does, has it been done? If not get it done as part of the deal.

Hi Lee,
Not sure mate.
Will check though.
Only seen 100k+ or <50k and nothing in between so not sure wether to spend the extra or less for a higher mileage.
Can get a 93k one for £6.5 or a 50k one for £9.2

If it's really the R-Design that you want then I would offer £9,000 for the 50k model. Stick to your guns and they should cave in sooner or later, just be prepared to hang it out for a bit.

If I remember from previous threads the DPF costs around £1,000 to change at or around the 75,000m mark, at least the 50k car has a while to go before it needs doing, if it has one that is. I'm lucky my '06' V50 2.0D Sport doesn't have one, yippee!

AS DPF is about £500 and about 30 mins to change , insignificant when buying a car dont let this sway you one way or another .

excuse my ignorance

The DPF, do all the 2.0D have them.
A sthe prev post said, his doesn't have one.

Lee '71 Nov 25th, 2011 21:22

No they don't but there seems to be some confusion as to how you can tell without physically getting under the car to check by the rear axle. I think I'm right in saying that if the 8th digit in the VIN number is a 4 then the car does not have the DPF but if it has a 5 as the 8th digit then it does have it.
