V70 Retrofit Possibilities

Hi Forum,
Appreciate advice on Retrofit possibilities for our Volvo V70 2010 2.5T phase 3
VIN YV1BW6050B1167229

I would like to add:
Cruise Control
Cameras - Front and Rear
USB Port

The car is imported from Japan and has SAT Nav pop screen up on the dash board however this does not work here in New Zealand.
SAT Nav not required as smart phone can do this.

Is there a unit that can replace the Japanese pop up screen for the parking cameras ?

I saw a YouTube retrofitting VolvoTech front and rear cameras to XC60 but cannot find a version for V70 and this unit used a console screen which is not on my V70.

The steering wheel has volume controls on the right hand side but blank plate on the left hand side where Cruise Control buttons should be.

Appreciate any advice

I used to retrofit parts to ex-Japan BMWs when I was in NZ and do things like convert jap nav systems to euro nav systems to work in NZ

Many options such as Cruise Control require software loads from the dealer using VIDA.

Here are the Cruise Control retrofit instructions

Here are the audio USB port instructions:

Thanks SwissXC90, Dice should arrive this week and a member in Auckland (NZ) is able to convert language from Japanese to NZ.

As budget allows I want to make improvements to the car as it is great to drive and I hope will last a few years.
I will get prices from the dealer for Software Downloads.

Retro-fitting cruise would need a software download from a main dealer. Give them a ring first as you may find cost is probative or they may even tell you it cannot be done.

Hi here in NZ as well, when you say upgraded the language are you referring to the dash instruments which I have had done ex-Auckland as well, or the RTI (i.e. Navigation system) which I understood to be a much bigger hurdle on a Jap import.

retrofit cameras?

Hi
Late to the discussion but I note that retrofitting front and rear cameras was discussed. I read elsewhere something that implied the cameras were always dealer fit (not factory).

Is this true - can anyone confirm? Anyone had it done?

I'm thinking of buying a car that has everything I need except the cameras. 2011/12 model year. Is it worth trying to get a straight answer out of a dealer? (Often a challenge, so usually best to ask here first!)

Thanks.

They are usually dealer fit.
Go to www.accessories.volvocars.com and you can find part numbers and then check on ebay as you often find Old stock for the slighter older models.
Once you have selected a vehicle on the welcome page, you can click on 'services' at the top of the accessories page and get a list of installation instructions for all manner of accessories.
Instructions for cameras on 2012 v70 are here:

Japanese nav system is totally different

When I worked on Japanese BMWs in Auckland, I replaced the Jap nav with the Euro nav and it worked perfectly. A bit of software reprogramming helped too.

For the Volvo I expect it may well be the same BUT you do not know until you try.
So try a Euro nav unit in the Jap Volvo.
Wiring may be different, be prepared.
And if it needs software programming you may be out of luck if the Volvo software system recognises the ca as Jap-market and refuses to load Euro-market software to it....

Thanks for the info. Will check it out. Not that I am ever going to install something like this myself! ;-)
