Clutch pedal issue
Hi all
This has been squeaking for a while, but today it got real bad. What is it, I imagine it to be a slave cylinder on its way out because the sound is from outside or at least it seems.. Sounds like it's behind the firewall. Is this a big job?.. If thats what it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iojLNX11pGs |
Take the trim down from above the pedals and press it with your head under there. It might be the pivot pin on the pedal needs regreasing.

Thanks I'll give it a go Saturday morning.. hopefully that'll cure it.

Update, there was no squeaking at all this morning or after work.. When I got back home it was back again but less intense :O...
Not had chance to get the trim off yet, but It does sound like its coming from outside, even with my head in the footwell.. Got some spray grease ready for tomorrow anyway, hit the pivot joint with it and see if that helps. |
Could that noise be from the master cylinder?
Is the master cylinder still securely attached to the bulkhead? |
I'll have a look tomorrow.. is the master cylinder easy enough to get to? I can't see anything under the hood s I'm assuming it's all underneath?..

If it’s a 700/900 series you have then the brake and clutch master cylinders are next to each other in the engine compartment secured to the bulkhead on the driver’s side and should be easily visible. The one with the brake fluid reservoir on the top is the brake and the other is the clutch. The clutch slave cylinder is the one underneath the car next to the clutch bell housing on the passenger side.

Ey up .. Took some time to gather my thoughts, I once changed master and slave cylinder on a Hyundai and realized I got the two mixed up the other day.. Mines a 940. Right I will check over them soon and re-grease the pivot.
Thanks for that!. |
EY up.. finally got time to inspect where the noise is coming from. It seems to be coming from the release fork area behind the rubber boot.. sounds like the diaphragm spring or in that area.. sprayed a bit of grease in there but I don't think I got the spot as it still creaks.. I was careful as not to contaminate the clutch.
